Marble Hotel contributes New Blood for the World

Is it your first time? never given blood? ever volunteered blood donation!


Marble Hotel initiates a contribution by its staff and customers to volunatarily donate blood to the National blood bank.

All voluntary donors are requested to attend to give blood, to estimate a proper head count, kindly RSVP realistically. The transfusion time would take only about 3-8 minutes.

 
VOLUNTARY DONATION is a noble gesture, where a motivated human being gives blood in an act of selfless service. It gives the donor a feeling of joy and contentment. It is an expression of love for humankind, as blood knows no caste, colour, creed, political party, religion, country or sex. Save a life at the donation camp at Marble Hotel this Sunday (May 1st 2011). Its a plea to you all on behalf of the needy.

 
BASIC BLOOD TEST IS DONE. Prior to your blood donation, you would be checked by a medical doctor to see if you are an eligible donor.

 
Donor gets a mini blood test which includes HB level, Blood pressure, body weight. After the blood is collected it is tested for major diseases like Hepatitis B, Hepatitis C, HIV, Syphilis and malaria. Donor is immediately informed if any of these test found to be positive.

 
GENERAL and PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS of a BLOOD DONOR

YOU CAN DONATE BLOOD IF:

1. You are between 18 and 60 years.
2. You weigh over 45 kg.
3. Your hemoglobin is over 12.5 gms.
4. Your last blood donation was three months earlier.
5. Sex: both men and women are accepted as donors.
6. BP: under the discretion of the medical officer
7. Pulse: must be regular between 48 to 100 per minute

** Enhance the production of new Red Blood Cells
To replenish reduced blood, immediately new cells are produced by marrow and this way blood gets refreshed. Therefore donating blood helps in stimulating generation of new blood cells.

** Burns calories
One can diet or remain fit by donating blood regularly. One pint of blood (450 ml) when donated burns 650 calories in donor’s body.

** Invigorated feeling in elderly people
It has been mentioned though not proved that elderly people in good health have reported feeling invigorated or reenergized by giving blood on a regular basis.

** Reduce the chance of heart diseases
It has been observed that increase in blood iron level increases the chance of heart disease. Regular blood donation helps in loosing iron on regular basis. It helps in reducing the chance of heart attack to one third.

** Helps in fighting hemochromitosis
Hemochromitosis is a genetic disorder; also know as iron overload disorder wherein iron accumulates in the body tissue because or improper iron metabolism.

YOU CANNOT DONATE BLOOD IF:
  • You've had a major surgery in the last six months.
  • You are a heart patient.
  • You are a hypertensive, epileptic or diabetic.
  • You have a history of TB, cancer, kidney disease, bleeding tendencies, anaemia, venereal disease, malaria, mumps or measles.
  • You've had cold/fever in the past one week.
  • You are on antibiotics or other medication.
  • You've been vaccinated in the last 24 hours.
  • You've had a miscarriage or have been pregnant or lactating in the past one year.
  • You have a history of alcoholism, drug addiction or have had unsafe sex with unknown partners.
  • You had fainting attacks during the last blood donation.
